| I just browsed the NY times article. In it he says his father had a gas station in Mexicali. I mentioned the story to my wife. In 1988 I made an office call to Dr. Quinones Hinojosa's office here in Calexico. He does not mention Dr. Alfredo Quinones Lavender who I knew as his father. My wife mentioned that Dr. Qiunones Lavender had another family that lived on a ranch outside Mexicali. I can assume that this would have been many years prior to 1980. I was not aware of this information. I do find the illegal immigrant story a bit stretched considering the time frame. |

| There seem to be many differnet leads to this story. I am confused now myself. There is a friend of ours in Calexico, a lady, who grew up here and knows the family. I'll check into this some more. I haven't seen either Dr. Quinones since 1988. I know that there is a connection. |
