El Centro now (or again) has a professional baseball team in the independent Golden Baseball League (GBL). The El Centro Imperials existed decades ago and actually won a title in the Southwest International League back in 1951. They will be coached by former LA Dodger Mike Marshall (two World Series championships) and have the following regular season schedule:

May 29th: El Centro Imperials vs. Orange County Flyers (Gary Carter & Darrell Evans)

July 1st: El Centro Imperials vs. St. George Roadrunners (Cory Snyder and Fireworks)

August 3rd: El Centro Imperials vs. Long Beach Armada (Steve Yeager)

August 27th: El Centro Imperials vs. Chico Outlaws (Defending GBL Champs)

Looks like it's just the Yuma Scorpions wearing retro EC Imperials uniforms and they'll only play these 5 games at Stark Field.

Is this part of the City of El Centro 100th Anniversary?

Just in case none of you knew I'm a big Dodger fan, i've been one for many years. I remember as a child growing up cursing at the television everytime Mike Marshall struck out swinging on a pitch in the dirt.

I found out a little while ago that Mike Marshall was at the EC B&B at noon giving out autographs.

Did you get to curse him in person?

You're thinking of Rollie Fingers, who never played for the Dodgers.
