Lissette (sp) Covarrubias was named CIF Division V Player of the Year.
She was also name to the All-Section Team in Division V.
She was the only Valley girls basketball player to be named to either honors.
L.Covarrubias averaged at least 21.3 points per game for Vincent Memorial during the 07-08 season.

I see some other students from Calexico, Vincent, Central, Brawley... who were listed an the girls basketball all-league teams.
Is Division V the top honor?
Esplain, please. |

I know you have an insatiable curiosity about this subject, thus I am compelled to reply to this.
San Diego CIF is comprised of five divisions(1-5), categorizing each divison by school enrollment. Vincnet is a small school thus they are Div.5 while the Bulldogs are Div.1. Basically she was the best player in small schools, Division 5 overall for both SD and Imperial County. Pretty impressive considering the large amount of schools in Div.5
I wonder if she is good enough for college basketball |

Far as I know she is from the area. Though, it shouldn't diminish her accomplishment of being named Player of the Year. I'm not a Valley historian, but it's definitely infrequent for any Valley school player in any sport to be named to such an honor.
