Does the City of Calexico have a budget for removing graffiti?

I've seen some tagging throughout that's been there for quite some time and it seems like no one cares to do anything about it. Maybe we need to make the city aware that it exists?

I wonder if the candidates notice the graffiti as they put up their campaign signs?

If you spot graffiti, contact the city via their website at:

When I met with the police chief, I mentioned this to him about the amount of graffiti that has been occuring in town. I made it a point after I saw the restrooms at Nosotros Park vandalized. He informed me that they are on the tail of the people responsible, and they are watching them... so it has not been overlooked on my part.

Graffiti may not be as bad as it was back in the 90s, but when you start seeing tagging on man-made dirt mountains (Victoria Park), you know it's getting stupid.

Even worse is when it's on a resident's fence/wall. The city isn't paying for that, it's the home owner.

Contacting the city is a great idea.

Can CPD make any money on catching these vandals?
(I just drove around town and I saw those little meter maids running in full force. I saw them as far as Santo Tomas)

Are parents held responsible as in other cities or just the taggers?

I was curious if Calecia had a graffiti ordinance. I logged on to the city website and clicked the on line municipal codes. I then clicked on the search engine and entered Graffiti. Calecia does have a graffiti ordinance/abate program.

So when you contact the city to report graffiti, give them City Municipal code 9.33. And insist it be enforced.

Check it out for yourself. It's on the books.

Whitebread, I suggest you check the municipal codes and familiarize yourself with them. You might find them to be a resource in your campaign for the council. Again, it is on the books for City Hall to take care of clean up.

Thanks Bloodstar1.

Here's a direct link to Chapter 9.33: Graffiti Abatement.

There's also a $250 reward for information leading to the conviction of taggers (9.33.150 Graffiti—Reward). Turn in a tagger and you can use that money to buy yourself a Nintendo Wii, iPod/Zune, digital camera, etc.
