Being an account member of the SCFCU, you get the privilege to vote for the board of directors... blah, blah, blah.

Last time we had a little scandal with one of the board members and it got a little fun with CEO George Kirschner being fired. Now the 2008 board of directors election is right around the corner and the following candidates are:

Michael W. Horn
Wallace Heard, CPAA, CSA
Miguel A. Monroy
Walter Joseph Slovak
James (Jim) F. Hamilton
Oscar G. Rodriquez, Incumbent
Esther Gomez
Guadalupe M. Sabala

I noticed there's only one incumbent. Did Sun Community clean house?

Sun Community really needs to revamp their technology, specifically the online banking. I'm sure they're using a third-party banking data warehouse that provides their online banking and bill pay, so it would be tough for them to just make a switch to another product. It's just so clunky and 1999. I've used WaMu and it's alright, but not great either.

The ATMs that have been upgraded are nice, but they require so many steps just to do one transaction. And if you want to do two transactions (e.g. - a deposit and withdrawal), you need to re-enter your PIN. Depositing multiple checks at the ATM is a pain, but I do like the envelope free deposit now. WaMu doesn't have that, AFAIK. But all in all, what really bothers me about their ATMs is that they seem to be down half the time.

Oh, and what's up with the ATMs allowing you to withdraw money you don't have available. This recently happened to me on one checking account where I had deposited a check and it let me take out cash that wasn't cleared yet. I got charged with a $25 overdraft fee, which if they don't remove when I go to complain about it and will gladly take my money from all my accounts elsewhere. This is a sham. Has SCFCU become that greedy where they are going to start feeing their customers for removing restrictions that should be in place? I thought they were supposed to be looking out for the community.

The main reason that i left SCFCU was because i had no overdraft protection!..i can understand if u fuck up and over spend a lil bit..

but payments would go in and they would bounce..for like 2 cents
and not only that but the bank would put that same payment in the same day 2 or 3 times and they would literally take all my money!

fuck that! WAMU $1000 overdraft protection.

ohh and dont get me started on the shady fellow that " resigned " along with the CEO...Marco Recio..that guy is worst than that Real Estate guy that got caught screwing people over.

I asked SCFCU what was up with the ATM letting me take out money I didn't have? They said they added some type of overdraft protection about 2 months ago that covers you up to $250, but will still charge you a $25 fee per check. This new overdraft protection, that was automatically "provided" to customers in good standing (no previous overdrafts), is supposed to be of a benefit to the account holder.

They claimed there was a notice in one of the bank statements mailed out to me, but I never saw it. I really don't scrutinize my printed statements because I review all my transactions through their online banking system (which sucks). I explained to them that they should have given me the option via a separate mailed letter to opt in (or out) of this service, since it's not offered to all SCFCU customers.

If I wouldn't have been hit with the $25 fee at the ATM, this would have been a good service offered to SCFCU customers, but since I knew that before the ATM would NOT allow you to take out money you did not have available, I tried taking out cash for the same amount of the check I had deposited. When I got hit with the fee, it pissed me off mainly because I saw this as another tactic by banks to make extra money off their customers. Yeah, I should have probably known that only $100 of the check would have only been available, but I was in a hurry and I don't need to break out my bank's owners manual to reference all the rules ever single time.

What I thought was hilarious was that as I was walking into the branch, the ATM outside read "TEMPORARILY OUT OF SERVICE."

I'm shopping around right now for another credit union and/or bank to put my millions into.
