I just found out about this place. I saw it in the Night & Day section of the SD Union Tribune and I had to go.
It is basically lucha libre-themed taco shop. Pretty much all of the same stuff many taco shops have to offer, except they have a "gourmet taco" menu and the also offer Mexicali (they call it TJ) style hot dogs. They also have old school lucha libre movies playing and the place is decorated with a bunch of memorabilia.
I went today and had a hot dog with a "Surf-n-Turf" gourmet taco. Pretty good, and it all came out to to like 7 bucks with a drink. I recommend it for anyone that decides to come to San Diego.

Yeah, this place is good.
The TJ dog is very good. I had that and a carne asada burrito a couple months ago. There was even a luchador eating there, but since he didn't have a mask on I had absolutely no clue who he was.
Next time I go I'm gonna make sure I sit in the VIP table with the ropes.
A+ on the concept. |
