I am saddened that Dr. Farrell, our family dentist, chose to retire last summer (2007). In my hesitation to find a new dentist I chose to give his replacement, Dr. Kim a try. Here is what happened.

The NEW receptionist greeted me and after about 10 minutes after my appointment time I was let into the x-ray room. There, the dental assistant took about 20 x-rays of my teeth because she could not get the x-rays done correctly; she said she was having a bad day. (Dr. Farrell always did his own x-rays.)

After that, Dr. Kim came in and reviewed the x-ray results and informed me that he would be watching some cavities, I felt good at this point. I thought, this guy is not going to drill my teeth! So he then starts the cleaning! This has been the most painful cleaning experience of my life. I felt that he was drilling into my teeth! Which, now, a day later I realize he did. My teeth now have a few holes from him scrubbing too hard. Is this normal? I went back today and he said it was that my teeth where weak and that when he was scrubbing some of it chipped off. The teeth he “cleaned” did not need cleaning, I keep my front two teeth clean! Anyway, what I want to know………. Has anyone had bad/good experiences with this dentist? I miss Dr. Farrell…. Anyone know of any good Dentists around the area who will not make my teeth worse than they are?

Dr. Kim didn’t even give me a free toothbrush…!!!!! This sucks!

Me and my kids have been going to Dr. Kossard (at Dr. Baker's Office) for the past two or three years. My kids seem to feel comfortable with him and I have no complaints.

technoginkz,
Sorry to hear about your bad experience with this new dentist. I'm sure Dr. Ferrell is missed by many, but I'm also sure he's enjoying his retirement these days.

I've been going with Dr. Bita Pirouzan (Desert Family Dentistry) in El Centro for at least 4 years and she's very good and gentle. Gentle being the main reason I continue to go with her. She also really does guarantee any major work she performs on you as well.

Her office gives you a free toothbrush, toothpaste, PLUS floss!
