Mr. Mayne;
Thanks for your answers to my and the others questions posted here at Calecia.com. While I still don't completely agree with you on the economy, I do like the fact that, as stated before, you are not part of the "old guard"... Having said that, do you have the date when you will kick off your campaign? I know one of the important things is the fundraising part of it, but I would also like to see what your platform is in general. So hey, maybe I will show up if you let us know..... |

egb,
Responding to your questions was what I wanted to do, so I have to thank you for asking them. My campaign kickoff will be sometime next week, probably next weekend. I will post it on here when the date and location are official. As I had asked you, I would really appreicate an alternative view on how to stimulate the economy here in Calexico, please do elaborate.

I've been a volunteer coach for various youth sports leagues and was told by rec staff that there wasn't enough money in the budget to have a spring youth basketball league. It's pretty sad that the City of Calexico feels that an adult league is more important than a youth league. |

I was unaware that the youth league had been cancelled due to these budget cuts. The men's league that I'm am currently participating in was cancelled as well, but then was brought back on a week before it was schduled to start. It was a mess to get everything together in a week's time. Jamie Chew, the lady who I speak to in the rec. department was said to be fighting for these programs that are self sufficient, in other words the programs that pay for them selves. I feel that youth sports is something very important, recreation will be one of my main points in my political platform I was to stand on. There are a lot of benefits that children receive from sports, it's just sad that the children of Calexico have to suffer, due to the inabilities if city staff to properly budget themselves.

My vision of Calexico is something like this. The streets would actually be nice and smooth, the retention basins wouldnt look like vacant pieces of land, more like parks that we can actually use. Like the Daniel Guiterrez Park across the street from the school district on Andrade Ave. That all these new taggers stop defacing our city with Graffti, like their nickname "spot" is something we all want to see spray painted on a brick wall. Landscaping would be key for all new developments and redevelopments. Some architectural design put into effect, not cracker boxes that are easy and cheap to build. If I could fix the school district's woe's I would want to accomplish that as well, too bad the council doesnt have any say in the school board's action. Talk to the city, to find out exactly why we were over spending and had to adjust the budget. To get from point A to point Z we just really need to step it up a notch and put some elbow grease into the cause. I can scream bloody murder all day to the rest of the council members, but if my vision is the same as theirs and I have no support from calexican's. My Idea's will fade away, and be forgotten. All these problems can be fixed easily, but will I get the support I need? That is entirely up to the people of Calexico.

I've always hated that about Calexico, the City allowing these developers to pass off these basins as "parks" is wrong. I've always thought that Calexico has so much potential, its just that the people running the city have always looked out for themselves instead of the best interests of Calexico.
I have a question for you, what did you think of the Louis Fuentes "acting" mayor news conference where he declared a state of emergency? |

| He was probably just frustrated about the city's inaction on the shrinking finances and high expenses. He has his right to express himself but personally I felt a press conference was too corny. He should put this item on the agenda and vote on it. In regards to youth sports the council and staff are indifferent. They want parties with developers paying for them and fancy trips.They even hired a PR coordinator. |

| The idea that Louis Fuentes had was correct, this information needed to be put out to the public. The arena in which he did it in was wrong. He could have brought this up at a council meeting, or even a press conference with at least 3 of the council members present. Should we change out policies like Mr. Renison proposed. I think not, for the simple reason was that his statements put Calexico in the "know" of whats going on within the city, internally. Transparency is something Louis Fuentes has been trying to do with the city since he took office. |

Yeah, transparency. Seems more like grandstanding to me. |

Grandstanding or not, he still provided Calexico with information that hadn't been made public.

Is there any more questions that I can answer for my people here at Calecia.com? I would like to see If I have gained your support, me growing up in a different "Calexico" than most of the other candidates gives me a different view and outlook at the city's current problems and how to resolve them. Please keep asking more questions.
Thanks,
