A friend and I did that last night in Mexicali and we were getting some strange looks from cars behind us. We might as well have put on a show for them, since they wouldn't pry their eyes off my good looks.

Anyway, I know it's illegal in the US, but what about Mexico? I used to do this all the time as a kid, but then I realized yesterday I hadn't seen anyone really do it in the past few years. We didn't get pulled over and we did get passed by cops, so I assume it's OK.

Is it?

I believe it's illegal in the same way that prostitution and bribing a cop is illegal.

I think you get my point.

I don't know if its illegal in Mexico, but it sure is fun. As kids we used to ride in the back of my dad's truck all the time. when he put a camper on that thing we rode halfway across the country in the back of that truck. it was awesome.

it's fun until some fucking prick hits the truck and everybody goes flying. i always see trucks packed with people in the back. it's normal in mex i guess. driving without seatbelts in mex is illegal though, cops are enforcing pretty strong now. so if you don't like wearing seat belts, hop in the back of the truck (makes no sense)

That's true. Driving without a seat belt on is illegal, so that must make driving in the back of a truck super illegal and deadly.

I basically follow California law in Mex, but I wasn't sure riding in the back was illegal now. It's actually quite fun, until what realneo said. Next time I'll just fork over the $50 pesos for a taxi.
