Coach Guzman has been suspended and his players do not know why. It can be assumed that he is going through his administrative due process. As a community we are left in the dark as to whether he was suspended for his actions during basketball, baseball, or any outside actions. Also, we do not know if he was suspended by CHS or the District.
Recently, C.com posters have posted some negative attributes to Coach Guzman’s coaching style, but that does not reflect the abundance of complaints from parents and community members throughout his tenure. The AD’s office has received numerous calls, but Mr. Apodaca is either to loyal to his coaches, is inadequate at his position, or has no authority. If parents year in and year out keep complaining about a coach, then it is safe to say it is the coach.
Hopefully CHS can still win league. Is anyone planning to attend the CHS v Brawley at Petco Park on 4-12-08? |

I wonder if he pulled this stunt after his suspension:

From what I heard, he's still a teacher, but was suspended as a coach.
Maybe he got one of the 28 pink slips yesterday though? |

Speaking of those pink slips, I was listening to These Days and apparently those pink slips are not final. Schools have to turn in their budgets before lawmakers do, so they made these steep cuts based on a projected figure. If the actual state budget has cuts to education that are lower than the projected figure, then some of those pink slips don't materialize. What an ass backwards system. |

After attending a CHS baseball game, these were the concerns from parents.
First, the Board only called representatives (parents of players) that were in support of Mr. Guzman. Thus, parents were outraged at how the Board failed to inform the parents who brought the claim against Guzman because the victim (student) had no voice in the hearing.
Second, Mr. Rivera quickly dismissed the claim based on his legal knowledge and ordered that no further investigation was needed.
As this meeting was held in a closed session there are no minutes available. If these concerns are true, I understand that Mr. Guzman needs his due process in a closed session, but at the same time when the claim is so serious in nature, the victim needs adequate assurance from the School Board that all procedural remedies need to be exhausted before quickly dismissing the claim. |
