I've been hearing about this band all week. I listened to a few of their songs. Is there something wrong with me? Why can't I understand why this band is so popular? I think reviewers that say the band takes its sound from Paul Simon, The Talking Heads, and Peter Gabriel are dead on ... but I hate those damn artists. All those references to their yuppy lifestyle, I just can't connect with them. I find this band's music stuffy, unoriginal, and worst of all, unamusing. By the way, I hope I misused the serial comma in that last sentence, Vampire Weekend Fuck you!

Spin is hyping the shit out of them on their current issue. I read part of the article, but they sounded pretty stupid. Haven't heard their music yet, but their original act was yuppie rap.

I've only caught one episode, but that was funny as hell. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a cheap bastard and just signed up for HBO already.

I still don't get the hype, they sound like The Wiggles (kids' show). Maybe its just an experiment to see if overexposure still translates to musical cred - MTV wants to see if they still got it..

Yes MTV, you can still brainwash impressionable young brains into believing you are the providence of coolness. Now take off that silly thong and stillettos and make me a samich'!

How were they? By the way, I could be selling tickets to a nude reading of my own poetry and sell out the Casbah too, so ...

No disrespect to The Casbah, but filling up that place for a show really isn't much of an accomplishment. Almost every show I've been to that had a popular band headlining was either sold out or close to it.

I hate to admit it though, the one single they have is catchy. Reminds me of an evolution of Operation Ivy.
