That is true. They looked really good against the Jazz in the last game of the season. I just think Shaq's influence on Duncan will outweigh Manu's considerable contribution. |

LA Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets
New Orleans Hornets vs. Dallas Mavericks

my picks for 1st round - Lakers in 5, Hornets in 6, Spurs in 6, Jazz in 7. |
denver is a team you don't want to play in the playoffs, they sneaked in, but they do have stars that will step it up
no way new orleans will beat dallas, paul is not 100%
spurs will beat the suns in 6
utah will take care of houston in 6 or 7, i'm pretty confident on this one, but utah has let me down before |
A little late, but this is what I had.
Lakers in 5
Suns in 6 (boy was I wrong, just thought fat Shaq had a lil heart left).
Jazz in 6
Dallas in 7 (straight hate pick).
Celtics win the East. |

Yup, Shaq should just hang up his boots (or Shaq shoes) and call it a career.
Maybe he can replace Llamas with the Soles next season. |

| Lakers swept a 50 win team pretty easily, but it should have gone to five games and not just because I picked them to win in 5. Bear in mind I've been following every Laker season closely for the past 14 years and am a huge-one-time-delusional-fan when I say the following: The refs completely gave this game to the Lake Show. I'm a little embarassed but I'll take the sweep. |

Not really. This wasn't Lakers-Kings of several years back, just the refs being fed up with a complaining team. Kobe picked two quick fouls and Lamar picked some early too. L.Walton got 3 fouls in less than a minute, outside of that, the Lakers played controlled defense.
As far as the Nuggets they were playing out of their element as they played defense for the first time all season long. They kept complaining on every play. Iverson did not get a call late in the game, but on a different play he complain after missing an elbow shot and the replay showed no one was within two feet.
The Kobe three pointers were off-set by the two calls he got against. During these playoffs and last nights game the refs have been calling silly fouls. I mean they are calling lane violations. Some teams have adjusted, but Denver had three players foul out because they had no idea what playing defense in a playoff game was like. Thus, Melo fouled out because he doesn't know that you can't hand check anyone out by half court. Not a bad call if you've been following the playoffs this year.
The game was won because Kobe dominated the end of the game, nothing more nothing less. |

| I agree that there were a ton of silly calls going both ways during the game, but in the last couple of minutes it was the refs that took over the game (but don't get me wrong, I've been watching Kobe his entire career and it still amazes me how accurate the guy's shot can get in big games). How do you call a tick-tack foul on Melo in such a huge moment?! They should have let them play! And how can they get that technical when calling a foul on Melo, and not call a foul on Kobe when he mugged Smith and crashed through Nene for that game ending steal?! I think they would have won easily in five, but they shouldn't have won game four. |

Thank goodness this series is over. The NBA needs to stop being greedy and change the first round of the playoffs back to a best of 5 match-up.
And f Iverson. This guy does not deserve to win a championship. Neither does "Melo." Stupid thugs. |
