Seriously, I was having a conversation with the person who got the list of bands the city could choose from, and we were talking about that very fact. I told her, Cheap Trick's hits ("Surrender," "Hello," "I Want You to Want Me," "Dream Police," even "The Flame") cut across generations and probably quite a few ethnic groups. I don't know that to be the case with Joan Jett. I think that was a boner decision. What hits does she actually have? "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock and Roll," maybe the Runaways' "Cherry Bomb" (which she didn't even originally sing)? What after that?
Still, I don't want to sound overly negative. Joan Jett will be a cut above what even the fair has brought in the last 15 years. It will be fun, and the turnout will be huge.

Apparently "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" is a cover song. Kind of takes away a lot from Joan Jett, IMO.

What's the theme for the El Centro centennial? Maybe this had a big role in choosing the performer.

What would that have been, 100 years of eating muff? Ha!

Anyways, I think "Bad Reputation" is a cover, too. One Joan Jett's other marginal hits, "Crimson and Clover," was also a cover.
