For whatever reason, my dad never helped me develop a love for soccer. Maybe he wanted me to be more American, but he taught me and my brother baseball as religion. The result: I honestly feel like I'm missing a part of my heritage because I just can't get into soccer!
At any rate, since you all seem to love soccer, and because this thing really amazed me, here's the following clip. You may have seen it already, but I thought this was crazy. Physically impossible almost.

Baseball seems to be most popular in Northern Mexico. So if your papi is from this part of the South, it's likely he was a big beisbol fan.
I got into soccer later in my life and grew up following the Tomateros, sorta.
Awesome video, though. I'm waiting for the anti-soccer (pro-NFL) to come out and say all the guys in the video are gay because they're dancing with a ball. Where's Acid Rain? |

My dad is crazy proud of being from Sinaloa, even though he only spent the first seven years of his life there. Growing up in Mexicali he played baseball but always talked the most about how he loved playing soccer, and his dad played baseball in some league. I'm surprised I never thought of any of this before, it actually seems pretty clear why he had us play so much baseball as kids -- he loves it. |

| i've always enjoyed soccer. there are some things that could make it more enjoyable, to play and to watch. nothing compares to the feeling of El Tri scoring a goal in the World Cup. When Rafa Marquez scored that goal against Argentina in the 2nd round of the World Cup all of Mexico roared. |

Just do what elchrist does. Watch the highlights on ESPN and post them on C.com before anyone else has a chance to hear them on tv.
In this case, I guess you would have to watch ESPN Latino (if that even exists.) |

VPV.
Good luck finding soccer highlights on ESPN, pendexter.
Go to www.MedioTiempo.com or http://www.oem.com.mx/esto/.
I'll see you at Stark Field one of these days, spic-ole. Your blood will flow on the field. |

Futbol is big in most of the world, but not loving it doesn't take away from your heritage. You can always do what spic-ole and others do when the crew gets together and just wait till the USA scores to say 'ande puto.'
It's hard to get into any sport if you have no team to root for. That's why many Superbowls are totally boring because people have nothing at stake. Now, if your favorite team is playing then the whole world stops for 3 hours.
If you want to get into soccer then pick a team, whether it be in the European or Latin American soccer. If you want highlights then catch TV Azteca or Accion (Televisa) on Sunday for your soccer fix.
I still remember waiting for any Hugo highlights from his Real Madrid playing days. Those chilenas were a thing of beauty. |

Thanks! That sounds like a pretty good idea ... anyone have a suggestion on a team that is fun to watch?
