El Centro spending less than expected
The $11.2 million the city of El Centro has spent through the first half of the fiscal year is more than $2.7 million less than what was expected, city officials said Wednesday.

What a difference 12 miles make.

Last month councilman Louis Fuentes calls an emergency press conference to alert the media that the City of Calexico is in an economic crisis and today the City of El Centro announces it went $2.7 million under budget for the first half of the fiscal year.

I moved my little business from Calexico to EC this past September. I have to say I'm a lot more comfortable in the EC business community. It kills me to write that.

Ahhhh, I miss the good old days of walking to your teddy bear shop and buying the latest talking Teddy Ruxpin. Hopefully the Tickle Me Elmo craze hasn't hurt your sales much. I figure EC folk are more into stuffed animals than Calecianos anyway.

I don't blame businesses moving from Calexico to El Centro. I know of one legit millionaire businessman who left to EC because there was too much red tape in Calexico they wouldn't get back to them in a timely manner.

Ha! For my mom and pop teddy bear shop red tape wasn't the problem. I just noticed that it's harder to sell teddy bears when a councilman sells teddy bears too. Just got tired of fighting.

Was this during or before being elected for office?
