Anyone tried those papas con carne asada yet?
I guess it's like a baked potato with carne asada and cheese inside. I've heard about them from a couple people already and El Nuevo Tecolote in Mex has them. Seems like they get a potato, slice it, fill it with CA and cheese, then wrap it in foil and through it on the grill.
Slice it, fill it, wrap it, grill it, unwrap it, top it - then eat it.
I've never heard of them before, so I wonder if ElNT invented them? |

| That sounds plenty good. This is going to sound stupid I'm sure, but potatoes take a long time to cook on a grill so do you think they put the carne asada in the potato while raw? (I guess in that case it would be carne cruda, but you get what I mean) And what type of cheese? |

No clue. They're probably already baked or steamed.

I'm guessing the the same as with sopes con carne asada: Queso "banquet" or Monterrey Jack.
I'll find out for myself this week. |

Has anyone had the "Papa con Carne" at this taco place in Ensenada, I think its called Tacos Del Carbon or something like that. The Papa con carne is like a bowl of buttery scallop potatoes, covered with cheesy carne asada. It's pretty darn good too.
My mouth is watering right about now.
Ensenada also has great carne asada tortas at Tacos el Apache, in the Calimax shopping center.
Mann, why ya'll gots to get me thinking about food. |

Not a great pic of a pasa asada, but the whole thing is wrapped in foil and a complete mess, especially once you add in salsa, guacamole, etc.
Papa Asada
I don't think I'll be having one of these again any time soon. They were good, but the fact that they put in about a 1/5th stick of butter in the potato and afterwards flood it with crema makes this a hand grenade ready to blow up your heart.
I ended up trying one of their new Taco Cachanillas which consists of two corn tortillas, a grilled chile California with cheese on top and carne asada drenched with crema. Seems like the Nuevo Tecolote lab has been working on some edible Frankensteins, but this taco was very good. I'd have it again since it's similar to a chilaca from the defunct La Carreta de Lichi.

| put a potato inside a clear plastic bag (like the ones you put your vegies in). heat on high for about 6 minutes in the microwave. when comes out, tap it on both sides with a knife. slice in the middle, mash it gently and add your butter, carne asada, cheese or whatever you wants on it. wrap foil paper arond it and bam, your baked carne asada potato. |
