What ever happened to English becoming the de facto national language of the United States of America? Wasn't there a big push for this to require all U.S. citizens to learn and use English only? Why aren't any of the presidential candidates taking a stand on this issue?
I'm getting real tired of calling my phone, cell, power, gas, water or any national company and actually having to press a number (usually #2) to get English. It's become so blatant, #1 is usually Spanish. Even worse the first words out of the automated system's mouth is usually in Spanish or as many call it... Mexican.
From now I'll be boycotting any company that shoves the Spanish language into my ear canal when they should be catering to the English speaking population first. How are U.S. citizens supposed to speak English only when they are being given breaks by money hungry corporations?
Speak English or die. |

I really get tired of preaching this, but the answer is simple. There are many people that speak Spanish (and many other languages) that live in the United States. To disregard that fact would make it bad business for many companies that provide goods and services. Simple as that.
Come on whitey. The United States has, and always will, have people that speak a language other than English, no matter how much you boycott it. And on a side note, "Mexican" is only one of the hundreds of derivations of the Castillian language (Spanish, for tards like yourself), so calling the Spanish language simply "Mexican" makes you look really stupid. |

JITB would freak out if he pulled up to use one of Sun Community FCU's new ATMs. They're bilingual... at the same time!
They should've made the ATMs in Spanglish. Imagine how much SCFCU would save in customer service/support.

| Things are different now. When immigrants were landing on eastern US short years back, they sort of gave up their culture and customs to become Americans. On the west coast in this day, immigrants are not so willing to give up their cultures, as on the east. Spanish speaking isn't just limited to the border of Calexico. The stores in Calexico have a variety of culturally diverse ownerships. Asian, Middle Eastern, etc. |

Yes, I realize that this beautiful land is being invaded by third-class individuals sneaking in their third-class languages, but a smart corporation would not use up valuable human resources to cater to a market that basically lives way below the poverity line.
Are they actually turning a profit on "The Latino Market?"
And as for speaking Mexican, I do have some workers who talk Salvadorian, Ecuadorian, Peruvian, and a few others who simply sound like gibberish.
You tell me you don't hate spending an extra 5 to 10 seconds on the phone listen to a recording in Spanish when you know you're going to do your business in English. Even if you'd speak Spanish, you'd want to still select English because you can't trust these corporations who are barely jumping on the Hispanic bandwagon.

I'm pretty sure this award can easily fall into the hands of posters like chuco boy as well.
Don't think for a minute that hatred towards "whitey" doesn't run rampant on these discussions. |

I don't thinks this land has technically been "invaded" by third class individuals, since there have been third class individuals living here way before this so called "invasion" you speak of. Have you been to areas of the South or the Midwest? These are areas with people of Anglo-Saxon descent that can be considered third class by many other people. Yes, I am talking about those people that have sex with their family members. Those people that have a 5th grade reading level out of high school, yet they've been living in this country their whole lives. Those people that single-handedly have put this country in a state of anti-intellectual pride during the past few years by putting this president in office. Yes, like elchrist said, the people that are making Idiocracy a reality.
So if your rhetoric is correct and it pisses you off that companies are accomodating their services for the use of so called "third class citizens", then should they stop catering to this part of the population also? This group of people that I mentioned above make up at least 40% of the population. Or should they add an option that says, "press 3 for inbred hillbilly?"

I keep wondering if it's possible for you to say shit like this and then complain about what you usually complain about and keep a straight face at the same time. |
