Check this out: The IV Press had ONE sentence about the state of the city address within the start of the new year. It's thrown in at the end of another sentence about some centennial city banners being installed. And yes, the time was scheduled for 5 PM.

OUR TOWNS
Centennial city banners go up
Look for new city banners commemorating the city’s centennial this week. Sixty of the 30-inch by 70-inch banners will be hung throughout the city.
The banners will be revealed today at the mayor’s state of the city address scheduled for 5 p.m. at the council chambers.

Is the City of Calexico not doing enough to let its citizens know about local happenings? I'm sure they send off their e-mails and faxes to the local media, but are they expecting we, the people, to just get reliable news about them the next day? What ever happened to experiencing the news when it happens, especially since this was a (re-)scheduled event?

Maybe they didn't have a big enough sandwichones budget for the public and only invited some dear friends? Looking out for the people's money, you know...

here we go, the city get a tax increase from 2.9 million to 5.2 million and they are in a financial crisis? They agreed to the police pay raise and now they send the cops attorneys a memo stating that they are in a financial crisis? Who is in charge of this circus anyway? One councilperson says yeah, we are going to get you the money we owe you, and the back pay since July 1st. Another council man says theres an emergency.

Well the emergency is going to be another lawsuit against the council, more cops leaving, lowered morale, and I am sure, a renewed sense of servitude from the PD.

More lies, more missing monies, and I am sure, more corrupt politicians and city heads working together to screw the PD over.

Just my opinion, but watch what happens.!

Well its not just the PD... its all of the City Employees who are feeling the squeeze...

So the question is, when are a new group of politicians ever going to take over... I mean a younger generation, that comes in with different ideals???

I cant speak for other city employees, and I know there is a squeeze when all these monies are mis managed by the city. They suddenly "find" money that they didn't know where in certain accounts, weird stuff like that, you can never get a straight answer.

The reason why police and fire would leave in droves is the treatment from the city as if we were third class employees, when they agreed to the ewing study they realizes that a regular police officer here is being paid about $9600 a year less than a comprable city, with better benefits and retirement.

The city will continue to stall, after more arbitration they will agree to what they agreed to pay earlier, but without the retro they owe, it is their common tactic, Officers had been so stretched before that they accepted it and the City didn't have to live up to their obligaions, I am just getting tired of it. I am sure all city employees are, unless your The head librarian or Cultural center director or such that makes over 60K a year! The City manger get a 23 K raise? One year? They have the money quit stalling and lying, this was brought on by the HR director, who pulled the same kind of crp over at the county, then it got to be boot time. Somebody had better get this straightened out.Exclamation
