Here is an interesting twist to the whole CM Ranch fiasco... Apparently the County did not approve the annexation of CM Ranch to the city of Calexico, stating that there were no plans from the city to be able to equip CM Ranch with water and sewer. Therefore now CM Ranch is considering in building all the services within the CM Ranch area and keeping CM Ranch as part of the "County" and not part of the City of Calexico.

Now if that is enough to infuriate your guts till the new year, there might be something more shocking that no one has thought about....

Wait for it....

Wait for it....

Kiki Jr. High is part of the CM Ranch annexation deal...

Therefore if I'm not mistaken(and please correct me if I am), the Kiki property will remain part of the county for the time being... meaning that the remainder of the road that was supposed to be built as well as other infrastructure, like sewage and water amongst other things will now be postponed until our glorious county supervisors(gag) decide whats best for the citizens of Calexico.

If I read correctly in the IVPRESS, the land that was dedicated for the kiki site has already been deeded to the calexico unified school district, meaning that the school district will be responsible for that parcel and not the developers. the developers pulling out of the annexation process for their development shouldnt affect the school districts construction of the new school. Lets just see if Mr. Alvarez is able enough to record the deed correctly.

Camarena Jr. High should be fine. This school now has a paved parking lot, lighting, rowed trailers and from what I heard should be open to 7th graders by 01/07/2008.

tee minus 10 years for a new (non trailer) building.

I heard that by going with leased/rented trailers, the school district would then benefit with state funds for building actual B&M structures for classrooms.

Any truth to that?

Well where does all that money that the state and city taxes allocate for the district go to if they are just renting trailers? I think the city and its citizens should vote on a referendum detailing that the money that is allocated for Building should only be used for building purposes...

Unfortunately construction costs have skyrocketed in the last several years and the dollars collected does not cover the actual cost of new construction hence trailers. Unfortunately the state is having real financial problems and our school is very dependent on the state for construction funding. But at least we have Daniel Santillan keeping watch on the border looking for undocumented students.

Was that the reasoning behind keeping Blanche Charles a trailer park for 10 years??? Sorry, I'm a product of that Trailer Park and I don't appreciate fellow calecianos having to deal with schools like that all over again!

Can I get hired as the guy that finds out? I'd love to get paid millions for taking some surveys.

Any idea what kind of camera this person is using to take pictures of underage students? I hope the Calexico Unified School District didn't spend $1,000+ on a Canon or Nikon SLR with telephoto lens when a Kodak EasyShare C-Series camera would suffice for the job.

BTW, is Daniel Santillan the HUGE man who drives around in a little Echo?
