I can't believe what I just read... A brewery in Guadalajara has starting making a beer in honor the Mexico's Robin Hood: Jesus Malverde.
After considering El Santo and La Llorona, they went with Malverde due to his popularity over the two in Northwestern Mexico. They'll be toning down his image a bit to promote his Robin Hood persona and not his narco affiliation, which is a good thing.
I have been a beneficiary of Malverde's blessings and will definitely be drinking some of this in his honor. I hope a portion of the profits go back to pimp out his capilla back in Culiacan so he may continue to bless those in need.

| I always thought it would be an interesting story to see if the local law enforcement tends to see Jesus Malverde busts in the homes of local Latino drug dealers, like in other parts of the state. I guess in areas like Orange County and Riverside County, the patron saint of drug traffickers is all over the place every time the cops bust homes. A lot of the dealers have little altars set up in their houses or those little gold pendants. |
