In-N-Out may, or may not, being opening today, but some other great, if not better, news for the Imperial Valley is the arrival of its first Vietnamese cuisine restaurant.

It'll be located where Tortilla Soup used to be located, in the same strip mall area on 4th Ave. where the 50s-style McDonalds is located.

I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but it was very different. The signage announced sandwiches and Vietnamese food. At the very least, I expect to see some Pho (pronounced fuh), which is a beef noodle soup and available in many varieties. I would hope they have more the pho, especially if they offer Vietnamese coffee which I am totally addicted to.

I'll definitely be awaiting the opening of this place.

The only Viatnamese food I ever had was in one of the little strip malls off the 805 in Natl. City. Not such a good experience. Looking forward to giving it another chance, especially for the coffee. Thanks for the heads up!

Usually people who don't like pho will refer to it as Top Ramen.

The name of this place is Surf City Breeze, if I'm not mistaken.

Get your pho on!

Here in SD, there's a miriad of really good Vietnamese restaurants. On my frequent treks to the Imperial Valley, I kind of miss them since I'm trying to eat healthy and for the most part Vietnamese food is healthy. This is definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully people dig it and it'll be a success.

Nothing beats the char-grilled beef with broken rice and salad with a freshly squeezed lemonade.

If they served dog, I'd try it at least once.

Seriously, so would I. I know it has been outlawed in some asian countries for various reasons, but if people eat it there has to be a reason, right? I'm sure there are those who find it appalling that we love cow brains, tongue, and tripe.

Oh, man. I had some gooooood tongue at Pampas the other week. Must be a new entry in the "meat parade."
