I quickly looked up Calipatria to get some info on its population and according to Wikipedia this Imperial County town is a "sister city" of Jericho, Palestine.

Calipatria, California

What do Calipatria and Jericho have in common?

Calipatria is the lowest city in the western hemisphere. Would Jericho be the lowest city in the eastern hemisphere?

Hmmm interesting...

Yes, Jericho is near the shores of the dead sea which is the lowest point in that region or maybe that entire continent if I can remember right. But other than that, they don't have anything in common. Calipatria has less than 100 years of existence, and Jericho is often called the oldest city in the world with apartments excavated underground that go back to the Middle East Stone Age. Many peoples and cultures have passed through that place, but I can't think of anything else... maybe any palestinian immigrants settled in Calipatria???
