KXO is reporting that a new Calexico Police Department Chief will be announced soon. The city is expected to make the announcement this afternoon or on Friday.
Who's going to be the next chief? Let's guess! |

Lets guess my rear, all insider politics as usual. Im surprised they went through with the dog and pony show. All hands stay in the same pockets, same as it ever was, same as it ever was.

I'm assuming Pompeyo is going to be the next chief of police after all.
Is the majority of Calexico's "finest" going to back him up as chief or will there be more problems with management throughout his tenure?
In other words, will you all welcome him with a Krispy Kreme gift basket or just a media docena from the downtown Donut Avenue? |

Who were the final candidates to choose from? Anyone from Calexico? Any other qualifications they bring to the police department? |

| Well...if Ouzan gets it his way, there will be a cop in his pocket. Like Fuentes and Ouzan would say, he is just an extended arm of their political needs. In other words...act blind to some under handed issues, and Tabarez will be happy to comply as promised. |

| Did the official word on the new CPD chief ever come out of City Hall? |

| City Hall/Official Word. Sounds like an oxymoron. According to the Probe, we should keep our eyes on the Adalante Valle. They have an informant working for them. |

According to a letter to the editor of the IV Press today, the Chief of Imperial PD had a lot to say about the hiring process. According to him, the finalists and their scores were published by Adalante Valle, along with some unkind remarks about one of the candidates, supposedly from a Calexico council member. Still no official word yet apparently.
I hope they select someone really good - the Department and the City deserve a quality leader. |

Victory!
In a closed session the city council voted 3-2 to hire a recruiting firm to find a qualified chief of police for Calexico instead of going with the city manager's recommendation.

| How is this a victory? The cops are still without a person in a position of leadership. This is ridiculous. The council didn't agree with the City Manager's choice? Who was his choice? And let this forum respond to it. |
