|
|
I was told there's a health food grocery store in Imperial now and that it's similar to a Henry's Farmer's Market or even Whole Foods and/or Trader Joe's. I thought it was doubtful, but you never know considering Imperial has the highest income per capita in the county, so a "healthy" alternative to groceries might appeal to the majority there.
I didn't ask exactly where in Imperial, since Imperial isn't that big, but driving around the couple streets with shops I found nothing. I thought it might be located in New Imperial, but I don't have access to that part of town.
Does this place exist? |

| Don't believe the hype. There are a few organic products, some "health foods" and a limited --- but very limited --- selection of the things you can already get at a Vons. It's in El Centro, off Even Hewes Highway near Sunflower school. It's definitely not all it's cracked up to be and not all that impressive. One good thing, though, it's the first place outside Brawley where you get Brandt Beef. It's tasty, but at $12 a pound for ribeye or $14 a pound for filet mignon, it's not tasty enough to ever purchase again. |

Wow, man. That's pretty far away from being centralized IMO.
If it's owned by the Sol Market folk, then it must be fairly decent. I didn't expect it to be like a Trader Joe's at all, but at least with a little bit more variety.
Sol Market is a efficiently run local market that you can always seem to depend on. I'll hit up this place the next time I feel like driving into unwanted territory. |

| It's hard to believe people would actually buy healthy food in the valley. |
