I was surprised to see the 14th Dalai Lama yesterday by the Imperial County airport. He might of been on a billboard doing a "wai" gesture, but still... I'd consider it a rare sighting of some sort.
I wasn't able to catch the text on the billboard, so I'm curious as to what was being "advertised."
Is Buddhism beginning to catch on in the valley? |

Speaking of Buddhism, a group of Tibetan monks will be in Yuma at the St. Paul's Cultural Center on Saturday for a fundraising event that will feature lectures and meditations on Buddhist spirituality, as well as traditional Tibetan chanting and dancing.
This will take place from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM and admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
