So less than a month after Mevyn's opened in Calexico we already have our first theft out of our Calexico store. What a shame!!
Embezzling suspect arrested
Sumiko A. Lara-Ramos, 19, was arrested late Wednesday by Calexico police on suspicion of embezzling merchandise from the Mervyn’s department store.
The case was part of an ongoing internal probe but police did not know the monetary value of the items Lara-Ramos is suspected of embezzling. The bail amount was not known at press time Thursday night. |

Wow. Like double-wow!
Well, that's great they caught them so early since the opening. This SHOULD deter the rest of the staff from stealing from them.
Interesting how there was an internal probe since the opening. I guess they must have figured Calexicans are a bunch of dishonest workers or else they have a history of insider crime at the El Centro Mervyn's. |
