Talk about a third port of entry in Calexico has come up again now that the Senate passed a renewal for the Water Resources Development Act which might provide $10M to clean up the New River. If the New River gets cleaned/covered up a new POE could be placed next to it.
The port of entry would allow both vehicles and pedestrians to cross.
Do we need another POE? I think the answer is obvious. |

If we do get another one, we'll have another Poe that the Federal government willl refuse to fully staff. |

A 3rd one...it's going to start out like the second one(east of Calexico)and then it'll get bad! Just a thought.
What got me thinking and then got me all worked up was that I heard not too long ago...the guy may have just been full of crap, but he said that Imperial Ave road was going to be reconstructed and the entire entry to Mexico was going to undergo some major changes...I know it sounds like a bunch of bogus crap...but that's what I heard...if that happens...............man, no more Church's Chicken..........*sniff sniff* |

You guys have it all wrong... it won’t be a third port of entry, it will end up replacing the original port of entry.... From what I've heard CBP is planning to make that new port of entry the outbound (people who are going to Mex) traffic and the old (original) port the inbound (people who are coming to the states) traffic... I think that it would be a great idea because then they could have the new river blvd(what ever that is called in Mex) connect with new lanes in the original but modernized port... It could be like the type of thing that TJ has where you can get to the port from two different streets...
The third port of entry will be the one that has been proposed to service that "Silicon Border" area over by Mt. Signal... Yeah like if we need so many goddamn ports right... We can't even fully staff one port alone and they want three ports with one of them being massive... |

BTW, the government is not refusing to fully staff... its that there are not enough people applying for the job... plus out of all the people who apply, it is usually that some percentage that does not meet the requirements and/or cannot finish the academy... |

More jobs, man.
Maybe we'll have a new generation of cholos that will legally claim and protect Calecia under the supervision of the US government? |

| elchrist is right; anything that comes in the form of funds, especially federal, is good or at least better than nothing, but I hope they don't destroy the little park by the border. |

| I think superplayer is talking about that tiny patch of grass you pass as you enter CLX through the old (Central?) POE. You know, the one inhabited by drunken hoboes. "Welcome to Calexico, USA! We give you: Passed out drunks! You may pass to the right or the left of them. Your choice. Freedom baby -- gotta love it." Let's hope they keep this park around. |

Isn't this park named "Border Friendship Park?"
I can't imagine them removing it. |
