| Since the accident occurred on private property, who is ultimately responsible? |
It's time for Las Palmas to finally pay for someting. In the last years, some vendors that I know have been worried that the fees for leasing the stands are just going ridiculously high, especially in the fall-winter shopping season. Las Palmas has always had mediocre infrastructure, security has been a joke (a couple of "security" guys here and there)... in other words, they only excel at charging high fees. It's time for them to pay for their carelessness. |

It turned out the driver did NOT have a driver's license. So who is at fault?
My guess would be LP's since they hired him, although did this occur during his working hours or lunch break? It'll be hard to say since they don't exactly use time cards, AFAIK.
As for infrastructure? It's a joke. Years back all the vendors were asked to do a coperacha to fix the stands, along with higher monthly rent, but only the first row (where the Carrera Stretch stand used to be) was fixed. Nothing close to what Sto. Tomas pulled off though. The LP vendors who took pride in their stand would pour their own cement and replace the lonas, while the rest just became pockets of water after a killer rain. Poke!
I feel bad for the vendors during Christmas time. "Management" charges a ridiculously high fee (which is more than double the month of December's rent) just to stay in your original stand. If you don't pay, you go to the back. Way back, where the foul restrooms. Not only that, the vendors have to "pitch in" for the Christmas "customer" giveaway/raffle. How do the vendors make a decent profit? They've got them by the balls, I tell ya.
30+ years of being in business and this place looks the same. It's definitely not the same culture it used to be either. |

The driver, Ulices Guevara, could face manslaughter charges as recommended by the CPD to the county DA.
Is the driver the only one to be charged here? What about the business for negligence?
Since the car was not his, did the car's owner have liability insurance? |
