Taco Hell has re-opened in Mexico after 15 years. They now have locations in Mexico City, Monterrey and plan on opening a total of 300 Taco Bell restaurants throughout.
Yes, Taco Bell tacos are nothing like Mexican tacos, so they'll be called tacostadas. As in folded tostadas. Creative.
I'm sure they'll be mildly successful considering it's American food and different. They'll be adding a few new items to the menu such as ice cream and french fries.
Here are some thoughts from a Tijuana-based taquero:
"Competition? Please," he said. "Personally, I like the Jack in the Box tacos. Now those are good tacos. How come those guys don't come here?"

How long before TB learns they need to start making tacos de perro to be delicious? |

| What has this world come to, Taco Bell in Mexico!!! I can't believe it. I don't know if they will survive especially once they break out with their own "Hot" sauce that they use, no es nada contra la buena salsa mexicana!!!! Will they survive? Only time will tell.... |

I don't know, man. You might be surprised how in other countries people love American culture and food. They eat it up, literally.
Mexicans might go WTF?! (or in this case QCh?!) when they see the Double Decker Taco or the Mexican Pizza, but they will eat it. It's ultimately going to come down to "Can they afford it?" Considering Starbucks now has 150+ locations in Mexico, I'd say yes.
