Stop, drop, shut'em down, open up shop
Oh, no...

They did some work recently on the outside lane of Interstate 8. It looks nice, but what's up with the roughness of the new blacktop? It's annoyingly loud.

They also did some work on Highway 111, but that turned out to be smooth driving.

Is I-8 gonna get smoother in time or is that it?

You might think I'm just B&C once again, but consider the additional gas consumption that this might create on the new strip. If driving on gravel or dirt uses up approximately 30% more gas, then this minor roughage could at least use up maybe 1-5%. Multiply that by thousands of vehicles daily...

Hopefully I'm wrong, but don't hate me for thinking about the planet.

Oh snap, I was going to sd last week while they were doin that. Did they just scrape the road like they did on highway 86? That sucks, it just makes ur tires make alot of noise. Not really smoother at all. Mad

Now both lanes are rough riding.

If you really want to avoid getting a cracked windshield, I suggest avoiding I-8 for a while as there's a lot of loose gravel on the road. I counted at least three rocks/pebbles that hit my window... each time I cringed.

If you insist on getting on the 8, keep your distance from other cars and especially semis.

Isn't the road work on the west bound side, going to SD? I noticed it yesterday afternoon, but it ended around Ocotillo, or there abouts.

I've noticed it on both East and West bound lanes around the El Centro area. That's as far as I've driven recently.
