So it turns out the city doesn't have enough funds to close off several downtown streets to pedestrian traffic only, so it will only convert First Street from Heffernan to Rockwood.

Oh well, I personally think First Street definitely needs this to happen to it. It's always a traffic jam when you drive through and with all the border foot crossers coming through it will only make it safer for them.
My only wonder is if the shops will stay the same or if some other creative ideas will be thrown in like an island with micro shops/kiosks.
