THE SKINNY: For some of us in our late 30s, it feels a lot like we’re reliving our teen years again when we go to the movies – and mostly in a good way. First we got TRANSFORMERS, a big-screen, big-budget adaptation of the popular cartoon that many of us watched in the '80s and which many of you actually grew up with (shudder!). And now we’re getting VOLTRON, an adaptation of yet another popular '80s cartoon series, and it’s in live action, too.

The fact that there’s a VOLTRON project is not news in and of itself – the movie’s been in the works for three years now. But it wasn’t until giant transforming robots burst onto our screens that anyone believed a robotic lion – make that five robotic lions that come together to form one big robot – could fly.

But now the Mark Gordon Co. is about to close a deal with New Regency to bring the five lions to the big screen – only it won’t be set on the planet Arus, as the original series was. Instead, it’ll be a post-apocalyptic alien invasion tale set on Earth in which five survivors pilot the lion-shaped robots to defend what’s left of the planet. Justin Marks, who’s also writing the HE-MAN and STREET FIGHTER movies, is the scribe behind the idea. No word on casting or production dates yet, but this one looks like a done deal.

Damn, and I thought I was hooked on '80s shows and video games. What’s next – a GO-BOTS movie? No, no, I was kidding, really, I was kidding. Sigmond and the Sea Monster...............THE GREAT SPACE COASTER........Land of the Lost.......The Shmu.... Shocked

wooo i just found out about a G.I joe movie and a Legend of Zelda movie dont forget a remake of Street Fighter. And a DBZ movie.

Never really got into Voltron. It might of been cause I only owned the imitation Voltrons abundantly found in downtown Los Angeles.

Although the Voltron skit on Robot Chicken was funny.
