I'm surprised pato didn't know about this, but 17-year-old Isaac Acuņa of Calexico has been contracted out to play with America's reserve team. He's taking off this weekend to DF to join the team.

I wonder if he'll be playing in the Primera "A" or Segunda Division?

* Wouldn't it have been funny if "Acid Rain" Galvan would've written the article?

I only read chicalon newspapers, so no I wasn't aware of this. There's been a few other local players that have gone to try out with the big teams in Mexico but none have made it. I know one dude who was really good and went with Atlas, but he came back cause the recruiters are a bunch of rip -offs who put them in shitty hotels, don't feed them well, etc... and they keep the rest of the money that is allotted to each player. Good luck to this one dude from Calecia.

There's very few Mexican- Americans to ever play in the FMF first division. There's one right now playing for Santos, who's actually called up to El Tri who's playing in Denver this week. He's from New Mexico and he had never been to Mexico and spoke very little spanish.

There is a follow-up article in the paper about Issac Acuņa and playing for America. He's actually in the Segunda Division with America Coapa and occasionally plays for their Tercera Division squad too.
