they were selfish, they married the mexican women because their 'asian' status wouldn't let them own the fields so they had to marry someone that could co-own them... then for a time, marrying a mexican woman wouldn't let them own the land so by default they started looking for white women which they couldn't find many anyways. Then they didn't let their daughters marry mexican men; they argued, the mexican men would't bring much prosperity. probably the best example of how selfish they were is Mario Saikhon (sp) who ended up in prison for not properly paying field workers their rightful minimum wage (or something like that).

I read in the recent Saveur magazine that it's customary for Sikh temples to offer meals at any hour of the day to all comers regardless of religion, gender or social standing. These meals include roti bread, lentils and lemon pickles.

Anyone know if the El Centro Sikh Temple does this?

I'll pay for the meal, just gimme some foods please.
