Burn your boats on a foriegn shore and you will have to fight and defeat the enemy to return home. Thank god Gonzalez never quit and didn't buy into their settlement attempts at giving him his job back with 6 months of back pay.

His wife just had a baby, he purchased a house and he went something like 4 months without a job because of this B.S. brought by the City.

Gonzalez never even held a rifle, never carried a placard, never raised his voice, and never even entered the PD during the protest. So you attack the guy who has 3 days left to make him an example, so others wont speak up against the illegal activities of your Chief?...

As AMERICANS you have rights, and this friggin city had better start getting that. They can no longer hide in the past practices, and compa system. Unfortunatley everybody in the system has something on everybody else and they use that for protection.

Hey, thats Calexico, Your not going to hear a politician or department head rebuke this fact. They aren't going to come out and say, "Hey, your right, I'm dirty." I just wonder why the citizens put up with it? This level of scandal and corruption should only be acceptable 5 blocks south in Mexicali, but I know its ugly shadow falls North of the border.

Is it a rant? yeah, it is, luckily I can vent here and watch it keep turning, just know that I hate it, and all that support it. Yeah, hate. I know its a strong word, now use that strength.

Corruption is like a "spiders web".........you can keep chopping down at the web and chopping down the web, but eventually you come to the realization that its not the web but the spiders or spider thats making the web that should be "expired" in order to solve the problem.

I think some of those corrupt city politicians need some, ("don't worry my friend, it will soon be over") to quell their corrupt minds........ Very Happy

ryphon 1 certainly "speaks his mind" on local issues and it is easy to target City Hall as corrupt. However rather painting everybody with a broad bush-why not be specific on one issue. Who is corrupt? Where are the facts? Historically the police dept. is the equivalent of Iraq with its different tribal factions. Even Chief Sanchez filed a lawsuit against the city of Calexico.

Okay, now you're starting to sound like one of those 'conspiracy therorists." Your post lacks strong defining points: what was the settlement and what are those "lousy politicians" accused of doing to this Gonzalez?

Usually I enjoy your posts and respect your rights to stand up for them, but these don't sound like the usual G1...

If you hadn't read the newspaper articles as this was happening years ago, the city violated Gonzalez's constitutional rights, and fired him without cause 3 days from the end of his probation. They have been forced to pay. The dollar amount is pretty impressive, yet I am sure it wasn't near the cost paid by Gonzalez, his family, and the scrutiny of the Calexico Police Deprtment and certain POA members.

Hopefully the City Manager will remember that the lawsuit was caused by the direct action of the current Chief, and his next in charge, the one up for Chief now. I am sure the same mistakes in leadership are being allowed, I'd thought they'd learned their lesson Very Happy

That goes to show everyone that the higher-up in the Calx. PD don't know that Free Speech is protected by the US Constitution. Now the citizens have to pay for the old Chief of Police and his hench men commited. They violated his Freedom of Speech. Duh. For all of those who are still working at the Calx. PD, be carefull. The US Constitution does not apply to you. OUCH !!!!
