|
|
When Jorge Hank Rohn was still running for governor of Baja, he bought La Mision chinese restaurant (located on Lazaro Cardenas) with the intentions of making it the new governor's mansion.
From what I heard, it was closed down and supposedly demolished before the election even occurred. So now that Hank lost the governorship, what are his plans with La Mision?
Was it demolished after all or was it just closed down?
This has to be/have been one of Mexicali's classic landmarks. |

You have no Idea what goes on in kitchen of these restaurants. My uncle has been an electrician in mexicali for over 20 yrs.He told me he visited these restaurants many times for service and he saw dead cat and dog carcases. Many times he saw them dead in cages. He also told me that the vegetables sometimes where reused even picked up from the floor. He totally grossed my out, He was even feeling sick as he was describing these places. I'm not saying this particular restaurant was like this, but you never know.
So watch It!!! You never know if this one might of closed down for the right reasons. |

I would pay $$$ to see pictures of this.
Although, I really doubt your uncle was telling the complete truth. It can't be that much cheaper to use cat and/or dog in the kitchen. Think of the logistics. Unless there's some underground domestic animal butcher/carniceria in the area that does all the cuts for the restaurants, then maybe...

Cockroaches run rampant in Mexicali AND the Imperial Valley. But whatcha gonna do? These little brown mofos can survive fallout, so how do you expect us to eradicate them?
I've personally witnessed a 2+ inch roach on my dad's food in La Mision when I was a kid. Boy, did the management want to keep it hush in front of the "white man."
I've bitten off half a cucaracha in my taco at Ocotlan. That was some strange acidic taste that I'll never get out of my mind. And to think the taquero still wanted to charge me.
Where I'll soon be going, there are roaches so big, you can saddle up on them. The best thing to do is live amongst them in peace and harmony.
But I digress... What's going to happen to La Mision, the building, the garden, the ponds? Has it, will it be demolished only to have some half-ass architect design a "modern" structure on it? |
