On Real Time w/ Bill Maher, the documentary filmmaker of The War on PBS claimed that most of today's youth believes the United States were allies with Germany during WWII.
MAHER: [overlapping]—how big those numbers are. On PBS. CBS would be thrilled to have those numbers. [laughter] So there are some smart people out there. But, I understood that you made this documentary partly because you read that kids in high school today think in World War II that we were on the side of the Germans.
BURNS: Yeah, I heard this—
MAHER: [overlapping] And we’re not? [laughter]
BURNS: No, I hate to break it to you. Yeah, they think that – most of our kids think that we fought with the Germans against the Russians. [audience reacts in disbelief]
MAHER: So, why do you think people are so stupid? [laughter] |
