From Cucu 84....on "Calecia.com"
It is very said to see that Calexico City Council Members John Renison and David Ouzan are backing and being wined and dined by Imperial County Sheriff Deputy Sergeant Pompeyo Tabarez for the position of Chief of Police. I cannot even tell you how disgusted I am to here this. I was at Carrow's about three weeks ago and I saw all three of them talking on how he would be a good Chief. I said to myself God Be with Us, I remeber applying for a position at for the City of Calexico and I remeber reading on the application about not approaching city officials for jobs in the city. After hearing thier conversation I think they violated this. Another thing I would think that the City of Calexico would want to take a step forward not a step back by hiring Tabarez as the Chief. In that case I see more qualified Sergeant's at the Calexico Police Department. Citizens of Calexico you finally got a good Police Department, now lets fudge it all up and let Tabarez who does not have any adminsitrative skills become Chief. John and David remember to think right not want |

QUESTION: I understand that the new Calexico City Councilman has requested that the standards for the police chief position be lowered in order to make former sheriff candidate Pompeyo Tabarez qualified.
I also understand that two Calexico police commissioners are urging the city manager and other council members to give the position to Tabarez.
Why would Calexico residents want the qualification of a police chief lowered in order to pay back political favors?
Let us go forward, people, not backward. We deserve better. Let us give some of our local police officers a chance to be chief. They have been with us to hell and back and not left us for greener pastures. — Curious, Calexico

We need to recruit some of these IVP commentors. I see sakurob is promoting. |

I left a post on ivpressonline.com. I thought the response to the Probe question was vague and a smoke screen.
The last sentence of the reponse said: "Public Safety should not get in the way of Politics." Shouldn't it have said: "Politics should not get in the way of Public Safety." But what do I know? I have a BA at least.
Come to think, the questions were not answered. Correct me if I'm wrong but:
1. Was the standard lowered for specifically this Tabarez? A simple yes or no would have been swell.
2. Are 2 Calexico Police Commissioners influencing the Calexico City Manager and the Calexico City Council? Again, a simple yes or no would have been peachy.
Everyone should read the blogs on the press website. Interesting stuff. |

Hi fellas,
Let me share my honest thoughts with you. Our Calexico Police Department has been suffering of major deficiency for at least ten years, not to mention the past six years. It is time for us to change the non-existent leadership neglegted by our one and only (M.S.) AKA: El murcielago de Calexico (B.M.). I am sure that no matter who we get, he/she will give us a better protection M.S. ever has. |
