I saw a documentary named "World's Heaviest Man" about Manuel Uribe on TLC last night. He's from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon and had moved to Texas with his wife to find employment fixing typewriters. After moving to the US, his diet now consisted of pizza, hotdogs, hamburgers, fried chicken, etc., but mainly pizza since there was a pizzeria next to his work. He went from ~220 pounds to 500+ pounds, so at his wife's request/demand, they moved back to Monterrey in hopes he would lose weight. He continued eating a lot and got to the point where he was consuming in one day what someone would normally eat in 2 weeks. His wife later left him. His mom said he would eat 5 to 7 tacos for lunch, which to me doesn't sound like too much food.
Anyway, they put him on the Zone diet, which worked to some extent losing about 200 pounds, but he was still huge.
The "testicles" are/were tumors in his inner thighs that would prevent him from walking, making his obesity problem even worse. He had to be cared for 14 hours a day or so. They would massage his body every other day so the fat wouldn't harden up and to stimulate his muscles. He fell in love with his hair stylist too. I hope the man who bathed and cleaned his bum was getting a decent wage doing so.
I really felt bad for the guy after watching this doc. Although there was a hilarious clip in the film though where Manuel would dance to electronic music in his bed for exercise.
It really is a shame the heaviest people of all time have been from the USA and one from Mexico. |
