BTW, I was really impressed with the way the USA collegiate team played vs Paraguay.

Verbal, I don't get how you don't see the difference. Hugo is expected to live up to his promises, while the USA had planned out all along not to take any of their best players (only took 2 of the Copa de Oro champs) and here they are giving Paraguay who just beat Colombia 5-0 a run for their money. Most of the South American press is calling the USA squad the College Team. How is somebody not supposed to be impressed with the way they played vs Paraguay? Yes they lost, but they played excellent. On the other hand Mexico played like shit vs a shitty team and barely won again thanks to a foreign player (Nery). This team is starting to look like the Necaxa of Lapuente in the 1990's.

Mexico 2-0 Brasil. Alineacion. M.Ochoa, I.Castro, R.Marquez, J.Magallon, F.Pinto, G.Torrado, J.Correa, R.Morales, F.Arce, N.Castillo, J.Cacho. Substitutions: O.Bravo, J.Castro, J.Lozano.

Only Rafa and Ramoncito really played for Lavolpe. Missing J.Borgetti, O.Sanchez, C.Salcido, G.Pineda, R.Osorio, M.Mendez, P.Pardo, A.Zinha, F.Fonseca. Lavolpe wasn’t a huge G.Torrado fan or a N.Castillo or a C.Blanco.

Thus, to say that this is the same team is not true. C.Blanco and B.Bautista haven’t played much because they are slow forwards who are being out played by C.Cacho and N.Castillo. If they wan’t to play they would have to play as volantes. And anyways your boy Lavolpe didn’t even call up C.Blanco so at least Hugo has him on the bench and puts him in games. And was Nery really going to walk out from Mexico? If he leaves he leaves all his World Cup dreams behind. So the 21 year old has a temper, but now he’s one of Mexico young bright stars.

Nice, so you called every Mexico player who played against Brasil and Paraguay shit. I guess M.Ochoa played liked shit and the rest like F.Pinto, J.Correa, C.Cacho and all those who have been playing better. Remember that team never had the luxury of playing together in any game, but I guess they ain’t shit because it’s all Nery. I guess Ramoncito is a piece of shit for bending it like Beckham. Yeah I guess Rafa didn’t play one of his best games for la verde against Brasil. F.Arce is a shitty player. Great.

Hugo has to live up to the hype and promises, but how can he do it with player who are still loyal to Lavolpe. Lavolpe even called them and told them to play their style, his style, and not listen to Hugo. I have never seen C.Salcido play like a forward so much in any game with Lavolpe. That is one of the reason the defense had huge holes because you have your best defender playing up front. Whose fault? It’s part Hugo, but what coach can really win like that? Finally, after the defectors left we can see Hugo’s style develop. 2 games into Hugo’s coaching and we want perfection? I don’t count the training and Copo Oro because of the reasons stated above, but I started counting once the players like J.Borgetti, C.Salcido, R.Osorio, P.Pardo, and F.Fonseca have left. What leadership have they shown?

It was beautiful to watch O.Bravo score and kiss ‘la verde’ like he ment it. Whoever the DT is, as a true Mexicans and professionals you have to sell your soul for la verde. As fans we might hate the DT, but you never betray ‘la seleccion.’

Why does Mexico end up playing Group C's 2nd place while Brazil plays the best 3rd place qualifier?

Mexico placed 1st in its group while Brazil placed 2nd.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Hugo has shown that Osvaldo Sanchez is his man at goal, bring back the defectors and take away Borgetti's injury and what do you have? LaVolpe's team minus Zinha. Look at Mexico's lineup vs Ecuador and I prove my point. Nery Castillo was begged by LaVolpe to come and play but he didn't want to, so Nery is not a product of Hugo. I by no means am a LaVolpe fan, I hated that motherfucker for not having called Blanco and then for having taken his son-in-law to the world cup. LaVolpe was a HUGE fan of Torrado!

No, Ochoa was the sole shining star in Mexico's game vs Brazil. If it wasn't for him, Robinho would of scored a few (since the defense couldn't stop him for shit). You're defending Arce? WTF has he done? Mexico has ALWAYS lacked forwards, that has been the problem forever, great defense but no one could score. But now we have Nery who's a phenomenal player, and let's wait a few months when Giovanny Dos Santos comes up then we'll have our 2 Forwards set. One uruguayan and one Brazilian forward, coincidence that none have Mexican blood???

There's no way you can honestly tell me that Mexico has played better in their 2 wins in Copa America than in their loss to USA in the Gold Cup. If you stayed awake during the whole 90 minutes in the game vs Chile, damn man, you deserve an award cause I sure as hell didn't.

2 games into Hugo coaching and we want perfection? No, we're only requesting Hugo to live up to all the talking he did. He's the one that promised a Gold Cup championship (he later on said that Mexico got what they wanted, to be in the finals), he then promised an appearance in the finals of the Copa America, and honestly I doubt that will happen, but let's wait and see what happens. After the Gold Cup dissaster, ESPN DEPORTES interviewed Hugo and showed him videos of all the shit he would talk about LaVolpe, and they proved all his contradictions, and the MOFO just started making excuses, cause there wasn't shit he could say, the evidence was there.

What I meant by Mexico playing like Necaxa in the late 90's is that Necaxa was a boring team that would somehow manage to win games. Nobody would go watch them play in their stadium, but they would win.

Final Stats
México Ecuador
Disparos a meta 4(1) 8(4)
Faltas 10 12
Tiros al arco 1 4
Atajadas 4 1

Yeah the system screwed up Mexico, now we'll have to play the Argies (who will kill us with all their stars playing) or Paraguay (who beat us AT THE AZTECA !!!!!!!, when the 3 defectors where still playing and Borgetti wasn't hurt)

Honestly, Mexico 2-0 Brasil. Mexico beat a way better Brasil team as opposed to the US squad with 6 new players. And Hugo's lineup will that shown against Brasil but with O.Sanchez.

If Lavolpe was such a HUGE fan of G.Torrado why did he start on the bench? And yes I'm defending F.Arce game in the midfield. He has shown a lot more than A.Medina, though he needs to put score on those two plays. F.Arce is a work horse just like J.Correa.

As for Nery, according to him Lavolpe wasn't really interested in him, so who do you believe? Or better yet what media source do you subscribe to?

If its ESPNDEPORTES with D.Faitelson then anything that's said is anti-Hugo, but while you're on the same page check out Huerta take. He the only anti-Lavolpe of the bunch.

So you won't endorse any victory w/ N.Castillo and G.Dos Santos?

Hugo is no angel, and he ripped Lavolpe a new one, so he has to live up to his new play on words.

I believe some teams benefit from subtraction. Take off the 3 defectors who were totally crapping the stick and not listening to Hugo and put players who want to play and Mexico has a shot.

Plus, O.Sanchez has been playing way better since Hugo put a competition back into the position.

Mexico v Paraguay. Mexico has a good shot a winning this time around. Hugo promised the Semi-finals...

You're just trying to be funny now man, how can you say (with a straight face) that Brazil was a better team than USA ??? We're talking about the Robinho plus 10 more other players Brazil right? Out of 4 goals 3 were Robinho's. and we're talking about the same USA team which Mexico hasn't beat in how many years???

Torrado started the first game vs Iran, he started the second game vs Angola, he didn't play the 3rd game vs Portugal, and he was the first substitution vs the Argies in the 2nd round. Zinha only started 1 of the games. So if you're saying he didn't like Torrado, then he REALLY didn't like Zinha, and we all know LaVolpe had "I Love Zinha" tatooed on his arm.

You're defending F. Arce because you're comparing him to Venado (which should not be in La Seleccion). Bring Pardo back and would Arce be starting? NO I ain't got shit against Arce, I like him more than Venado, but let's be honest, he aint got shit on Pardo, Torrado, Guardado or Blanco (which now plays more as a midfielder than a forward). So unless Mexico starts playing with 5 midfielders, there's no room in there for him.

As to Nery, the Mexican directives flew to Greece 2 times to talk to him to try to convince him. They interviewed LaVolpe 2 weeks ago and he said that Nery told him that he was still waiting to be called up by Uruguay, but that LaVolpe told him that there was a small chance of that happening, cause LaVolpe coached Vicente Sanchez and that he was real good and HE had never been called by Uruguay. But Nery wanted to wait a little while longer, and he wasn't called so he said fuck it, I'll play for Mexico. And I'm still not sure I believe that Mexico didn't pay him shit to come play for Mexico. So why are your sources gonna be correct and not mine? As I said before, I'm not pro LaVolpe, I hated the mother fucker for not taking my hero Cuahtemoc Blanco and for taking his dumb ass son in law. I also hated his stupid excuses he gave when they lost or played bad. But compared to Hugo, damn I miss LaVolpe. I wanted Americo Gallego to take over El Tri, he has a PROVEN coaching record. All Hugo has done is win back to back championships with Pumas, and what happened the following tournament? He took the PUMAS to the last places in the percentages and were close to going down to Primera A. The PUMAS locker room was a mess, everybody turned against him (just like right now in El Tri), Marioni their leading scorer and biggest star took off cause of Hugo and they then had to fire his shitty ass. So does a back to back championship guarantee anyone a shot at coaching El Tri?

Of coarse I'll be cheering after every Castillo and Dos Santos goal, and I'll be hoping they have a lot of kids with Mexican women. It's just sad to see how they do incredible moves and goals and to know no Mexican player can do that himself.

I myself will never respect Hugo as a person. He was the best player ever, and maybe there will never be another one like him. But as a person, he leaves a lot to be desired. How can he kick his son out of the training camp and send his ass back to Mexico for having made some TRUE comments about him? WAD!

In other words, the US with their A squad would have won all 3 games in this bracket? We never know, but we do know is that the Mexico can't beat the US in its own soil.

At least under Lavolpe I didn't like P.Pardo's game. Anyway, if he wouldn't have gotten hurt in that game I doubt G.Torrado would have played at all. I think the 4-4-2 play to Pardo's and Torrado's strength.

C.Blanco career is over. Let it go man. He still has the beautiful touch, but the man can't run anymore. He has absolutely no stamina left. So he can't play midfield because he will be a liability when Mexico doesn't have the ball. The game against Chile proved it. I think he might be good for 15-20 minutes playing on the either end of the midfielder line. I was a huge Cuao supporter, but its time to start finding new players. While I don't believe that F.Arce is anywhere near the Torrado's, Pardo's, or Guardodo's he has shown that he can be a work hoarse. He has only played in 2-3 games, so for a rook I like what I see. He should be a starter until someone in the Sub-20 takes his spot.

I don't have any sources, but I was implying which sources you read and believed. Lavolpe said he contacted him, but N.Castillo says he didn't. It's a classic he said she said. Lavolpe was content with his core players and didn't need the Blanco's or the Nery's of the world.

As for Hugo the man, who cares. I don't care if he slapped his son in front of team or if married, sleeps with all of the Boca Juniors cheerleaders. Just don't wear any pink shirts while coaching the Seleccion. Yes, there were other proven DT out there, but Mexico needed Hugo as the DT so he could finally shut up. Hugo has a year from now to prove that his Seleccion is better than any previous regime or else he is gone. Then when the new guy comes in Hugo won't be able to complain because in the end he failed, but right now let's ride the wave.

I finally remembered Lapuente's 4-4-2 and damn was it boring. But remember Germany played the same way for years and they won 3 World Cups. So ultimately what is your goal? Play to your strengths.
