If you want to go watch a good mexican movie, don't wait until it's playing in theatres near you. Might as well just watch it in Mexicali. Tickets are about 4 bucks a piece and a jumbo popcorn and jumbo soda will run you about 50 pesos. It's cheaper and you don't have to worry about those distracting subtitles (unless you don't speak spanish, in that case, they're pretty useful).
The best theatres are Cinapolis (near calafia), the one in front of La Cachanilla, and the one at Nuevo Mexicali.
Cinapolis is kind of old, but it's a good theatre overall.
The one in front of La Cachanilla is pretty good and the seats are really comfortable. The problem is sound from other rooms tends to drift in.
The one in Nuevo Mexicali is really good except it's kind of far. |

I saw Robin Hood, when it came out, in a theater in Mex, and it was a fucking desmadre. People were throwing shit all over the place. Everyone was talking and whistling. No one was there to actually watch the movie, except me.
After watching the movie, I actually wished I would have spent my time doing something more rewarding; like throwing some shit. |
