I had a chance to see Grindhouse last night.
I think that Planet Terror could possibly be Robert Rodriguez's best movie yet. This movie alone is worth the price.
Plus, the previews are a great bonus (Fu Manchu!).
On the other hand, this is probably Quentin Tarantino's worst. I've never actually walked out of a movie before, and I can't say that I walked out of this one, but man I wanted to. The only thing that kept me in there was the hope that it might actually get better, but nope, it just got more and more boring. So much of it tried way to hard to have the wit of Reservoir Dogs, and the feel of Pulp Fiction, but it never even came close. The only parts that were decent were the Kurt Russel scenes. No wonder they show him the most in the previews. |

Can't say I disliked either movie, but I see how some people couldn't like "Death Proof". However, I felt like Quentin Tarantino did a good job of sticking to the "exploitation" genre with "Death Proof", as a lot of those films are somewhat slow with some really good action thrown in here and there with gratuitous images of hot chicks throughout the whole film. "Planet Terror" just kicked ass all around.
I hear "Machete" is going to be a straight to DVD release. But, my favorite preview was "Thanksgiving". They totally need to make that into a real movie. |

Well, what can you say about a movie that features a ton of explosions and a chick who hooks up a machinegun to her leg stump? "Pelicula Mamona" comes to mind.... |

So retro is still in.
Anyway, both movies are excessively long with unnecessary dialogues or scenes. This is Tarantino’s 3rd straight chick flick. What’s up with that? |
