|

Over the weekend, IV Press had a front page piece called "Burger wars." In this "war" they ate cheeseburgers from The Owl, Junior's, B&B, Hacienda (Brawley) and Rosa's Plane Food. They picked the cheeseyburger from Rosa's as the winner and gave it an average score of 7.3. B&B got a 7.
I've never tried a burger from Rosa's. I've tried their ceviche (it's alright), carne asada plate and a few others. I never considered getting a hamburger there. Maybe it was the $8+ price, targeted at well-to-do pilots as they skip on through to Mexico, although it does come with fries and a salad. Who eats a salad with their burger?
Anyway, I guess next time, if there is one, I'll try it out cause the picture did look pretty good with all that avocado. Now if they could only score the same with service. |

| That's the thing, the service is weak but most the food is really good. I had that burger before the Press thing ever came out and would say it Rosa's is my favorite. The price is ridiculous, though. The Owl just isn't as good anymore since they changed owners about three or four times in the last decade. |

Guys, I think one of the best burgers ever made in the valley were the one's from the Old Foster Freeze, remember? Not to mentioned their shakes and awsome fries. I still like to soy meat cheeseburgers from hamburger stand. |

A plumber thats worked out at Rosa's Plane food speaking under anonimity. Personally, told me that the infestation that they have down there w/ all types of insects mainly "cuka-rachas" is something to behold. He said that he wouldn't personally eat over there. Granted, they've passed all of their health department inspections and watever else that they're required to pass. But the fact that they're located right above the run/drainage,sewer from U.S. and Mex. Makes for a cocktail of "cuka-asada". And its not an isolated incident every store in that vicinity from there to anything around Twin City is affected and he said its real, real bad. So the next time chomping into you're $8.00 dollar burger. Make sure its well done, along with all the rest of the "protein" on your plate...... |

| yes indeed sir. foster freeze is by far one of the best burgers in Calecia. rosa's plane food, nah, ill pass. it must be good, but i take everything that eric galvan writes with a grain of salt anyways. and as was mentioned previously, they have a reputation of having cleanliness standards that are lower than george bush's IQ. |

I forgot to mention that I tried this cheeseyburger out a while back and it's alright. I personally wouldn't go back to Rosa's just to have it again. I'd probably just go back for the "authentic" Mexico-approved food if I were to find myself a 20 dollar bill on the street.
B&B is probably the most consistent in the valley. Although you need to eat it there, otherwise the carry-out styrofoam container makes it sweat like a becerro wearing a black Hefty trash bag by the time you get home. |
