Last weekend while cruising around in Chicali I noticed a taxi that was advertising IKEA. I didn't get close up enough to read the details, but it definitely WTF'ed me.

With all the new commercial development happening in Mex, I wouldn't be surprised an IKEA could be on its way. Although it's very likely that Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd's owner is looking to top Billy Gates again as the richest man on the planet by targeting Chicali shoppers for its San Diego location.

Swedish meatballs. Lingonberry juice.

What's the name of that tianguis that's all the way west on Lazaro Cardenas and then left? Anyway, that would be the Mexicali version of IKEA: Y-ke-wuey.

I once bought kitchen counter tops and cabinets there. Instructions not included.

It's Scandanavian designed- looks good but very flimsy. Also inexpensive and you have to assemble everything from scratch. MADE IN CHINA....

The one next by Wal-Mart or the one close to Rio Presidio?

I don't know where Rio Presidio is, but I'm talking about the area where you start seeing used fridges and hub caps for sale.

I think the market is called something like Leon. I could be totally off though.

If an IKEA were to come to Mex, I can't imagine them producing cheap(er) products. People seem to forget there are a lot of people with money in Mex. When I've gone to the IKEA SD, it seems like most people are from Tijuana.

Step into Bloomingdale's, Nordstroms, Macy's, Jeanery, etc. at Fashion Valley Mall and the majority seem to be fresones with feria.

From what I've read at the website, theres no plans for an IKEA in Mex... What I also gather is that IKEA is on a Franchise sistem, so if thats the case some rich "chicalon" is bringing it here...
