The Calexico Chamber of Commerce Special Events Committee has announced that tickets for Mardi Gras 2007 a Beer Tasting Xperience & Business Expo are now on sale at the chamber office. The event scheduled for Friday, February 16th is a fundraiser for the Calexico chamber. “Monies raised from this event will be used to support community projects,” said Cesar Rodriguez, chairperson of the Special Events Committee. Tickets are also available from chamber board members.
The historic De Anza Hotel will again be the site of this popular annual event. Starting time is 7p.m. and there will be a large number of domestic and imported beers provided by Alford’s Distributing and Claypool, for the tasting. Music for dancing and “Kareoke” will be provided by Robert Pena and his MALO SOUND. "We will be giving out plenty of masks and beads to all attendees when they arrive at the event”, said Hildy Carrillo-Rivera, executive director of the Calexico Chamber of Commerce. “The event is being co-sponsored by R.L. Jones Customhouse Brokers” said Carrillo-Rivera, “but we’ll pick up several business sponsors for the expo between now and the event.”
Besides the beer tasting also included with the $25 donation per person are delicious tacos, non-alcoholic beverages and an array of door prizes. “We guarantee you’ll have a great time”, said Joe Moreno a member of the Special Events Committee.
