I used to work as a bus boy at this family restaurant in Calexico (the name will be kept secret for legal reasons).

I liked this job about 10 percent of the time I was there, and hated it the rest of the time. Depended on who was the manager on duty.

My co-workers were some of the biggest hypocrites known to man, and one of my managers was a stupid ex-chola biatch! I couldn't stand her. She was one of those ladies that if you didn't kiss her ass all day, she treated you like shit and gave you crappy hours. She was also in love with half of the guys who worked there and would flirt with them all the time (it was disgusting to watch because it was obvious, and she was old, fat, and ugly).

I only worked there because I needed the money, and no one else would hire me.

Well, I finally got fed up with the job and I decided to try and get fired so I stopped showing up. I didn't show up to work for an entire month, then finally I heard from a co-worker friend of mine that I was still employed at the place and was scheduled to work there that weekend. I decided to show up and when I got there I acted all nonchalant, clocked in, and started cleaning dishes, waiting for the manager to call me in to fire me. I waited like two hours and nothing. Another hour passed, and still nothing, and finally, a little while after the fourth hour, the manager calls me in to the office.

To my dismay, it was the manager I got along with and he told me that the other manager wanted to fire me, but he had argued for me so I wouldn't get fired. All they were going to do was give me a two week suspension, including the week we were in (which was almost over).

I got pissed, I was like, "Shit! After all that effort to get fired, and nothing."

Finally my suspension ended and I came in to talk to my manager and just told him, look dude, I don't wanna work here anymore, I quit!. He told me not to quit and offered me a raise! Nah, that would have been cool though. He let me quit.

From that day on I realized, if you ever want to keep a job, try to get fired.
