|
|
Here's the story: Cops get a 911 call from an upscale neighborhood with a complaint that someone riding a bike is going through their trash bins. Cops respond to the call and follow a woman who had been exercising, bust her house door open, and take her out to arrest her. The town is now making a stink about it, with the 911 calls posted on the newspaper. Is this outrage reasonable reason or where the officers just doing their jobs? Has this happened in Calecia?

By David Castellon Staff writer - Kathleen Dreckman liked to ride her bicycle in the high-end neighborhood near the Visalia Country Club. She says she felt safe there. Until Friday afternoon.
She says she returned from a ride through the Green Acres neighborhood, across Mill Creek from her home on West Sunset Drive. Minutes later, a group of Visalia police officers burst into her home, guns drawn, and ordered her to come out of her bedroom with her hands up.
"I went to the living room and saw the police officers and saw guns drawn, and they were screaming for me to put my hands on my head. And I put my hands on my head," said Dreckman, 40, a mother of three and a self-described homemaker.

It seems excessive to me. Kicking doors down with guns drawn. Trash is Trash. It's not like they're breaking into a home or what.
How about putting the blame on the caller? Does this rate calling 911? Isn't 911 for traffic accidents and high crimes?
But back to the cops. The officers should have gone to the caller's house and told them not to use 911 for this kind of incident. And if they were so worried about what was in their trash, they shouldn't have thrown it away in the first place.
But who knows for sure? Their chief said they acted "appropriately." About our cops, all I can say is that I've seen "dumpster divers" for years, and the cops don't bother with them. |

| First of all they have to get a court order to bust into someone’s house; second the only way they can go into a house is if (1) if they see someone in peril inside the house or (2) cops follow the suspect into the house. I don’t know it sounds too sensational to be true… |

Calexico is like Farmington.
Every PD has their very own Vic Mackey.

| It's seems to me that TsutchiEsMaximus is not happy with the local police. I myself have had negative views of the local police, but after I went on a ride along, i realized that this is a tough job. No one likes cops, so they are never going to make people happy. One thing I learned is that the reason they back each other up is to avoid the cops from getting hurt. The guy I rode with was a big guy and I don't mean fat either. This guy could take care of business, but said that he prefers to have four cops assist him, then him beating the shit out of a bad guy. He said that he has heard stories, of when you did not have back up and had to do what was needed to arrest someone. Another thing that I was privi to, was a traffic stop where an officer found a couple of ounces of METH and a handgun. I think this is also a reason why you see five or six cops at a traffic stop. I too was closed minded like TsutchiEsMaximus, I invite all of you citizens than can, to go on a citizen ride a long to see where your tax dollars are going to. |
