I've been down in Calecia for the holidays and maybe once a month and have been noticing lots of old friends from high school have gotten into being C.O.'s, Border Patrol, and Customs. Seems like its the way to go if you want to make a descent living in the valley and start a family. More and more friends are getting into this law enforcement recruitment effort of Calecianos and valleyites.

Aside from this law enforcement field, what other career opportunities are there for Calecianos staying for good in the valle? And just how exciting is a career in being a correction officer at Centinela and/or Calipat, border patrol, and U.S. customs?

A real lack of white collar jobs and government- IID, County, City is the best route to go; best job is the sperm lottery-work for dad- perhaps the maquiladora business in Mex is the future. Narcotraficante trade is booming- lots of used car lots; big homes on the east side; Hummers-Big Dodge Ram Trucks

Law enforcement jobs are not easy. Very stressful and those employees deserve every penny and benefit.

What about the U.S. Department of Transportation. I've been working there for almost six years and its worked out real well, good pay, good benefits (not getting rich anytime soon). But there's always a trade off. If your not doing shift work (one odd hour to the next). Then ur like me where ur on a good schedule get paid pretty decent but have to travel out of country ie; mostly into Canada. But for the most part its a cool job. Very Happy

And for those of you who aren't familiar with government agencies the "TSA" is part of Homeland Security not the U.S. Department of Transportation. But anyway thats a job thats seldom heard of... I think.
The only thing is that you can't really compare us to those other law enforcement agencies in the sense that we don't do any type of "Mass Hirings" like they do where you go through a process our openings are few and far none. But when there are they're usually posted on usajobs.opm.gov.

Well there u go Very Happy

Sounds pretty good. What's the highest GS level promotion in Calexico in DOT?

sounds similar to those positions listed above. What is TSA through DHS. "Thats a job thats seldom heard of" - Why do you think it is not heard of as much?

The reason why.......like I stated before.

There isn't any type of "mass hiring" process like border patrol, customs, corrections, police depts. etc. You have a higher chance of getting hired under one of these because of this where as we're a small office with no more than 18 people. The job is good so the turn over rate is small so not too many openings.......

But yeah its a cool job and I'm happy. You can find jobs like that all over the place small agencies are stationed all over the valley.

The environmental protection agency, occupational health and safety administration, bureau of reclamation, government services administration to name a few.
