Seems like Hugo has a hard time winning during milestone games.

Paraguay goalie threw the ball on his head as the game ended, Blanco then started a shouting fight that lead to push & shove. |

Damn. Blanco should've kicked his ass and gone out with a bang!
I wonder if the PAR portero would've been Chilavert, if Blanco would have had the same balls. That guy looked like one tough SOB. |

I still believed if Hugo's Seleccion wouldn't have passed into the second round he should have been shown the door, but he advanced to the Finals.
It's weird how the team did start playing better after they played on real grass. On a side note, what the US did was bush league. I've never seen two different artificial turfs looks so bad in any American sporting event.
Hugo's 4-4-2 started gaining steam within the players and the progress could be seen on the pitch. Though, not for an entire game. Hugo was suppose to win on Sunday, and this was his first failure. He stated that he doesn't feel bad since his squad played good, but that's only half true. The Seleccion did play wonderfully in the first half, but fell apart in the second half.
His halftime and in-game adjustments were outright terrible. The US almost scored within 2 minutes of the complimentary period. At this point in his DT venture Hugo is too passive. If he continues to wait and wait before he makes adjustments, substitutions, and so forth then his names as Mexico's DT are numbered. |

Well supposedly some of the team is boycotting Hugo. Those team members are supposedly Salcido, Pardo, Osorio, Kikin and probably a few others.
I even read that La Volpe phoned up a few of his ex-players from El Tri while vacationing in Mexico to give them some advice. Apparently La Volpe still seems to be part of the picture. |

The La Volpe thing is weird. I currently can't find the Mexican press articles that state that La Volpe has nothing to do with the Seleccion. That he does not want to give his opinion, but if one goes to ESPNDeportes La Volpe as quoted that he has talked to his ex-players and that he has been trashing the Seleccion.
I read the following sources for Mexican soccer.
Esmas is a televisa webpage, and they appear neutral for now.

Terra seems to call it like it is. Right now there's a lot of negative press.

ESTO is well ESTO.

ESPNDeportes led by David Faitelson and Huerta are Anti-Hugo.

After reading some media outlets it seems that some of these sport writers are really pulling for Mexico to lose. If Mexico is defeated then they can take shots at Hugo.
While I didn't with agree with La Volpe after seeing his team peak, I never wanted the Seleccion to lose. I feel that media outlets and some fans are really pulling for Mexico to lose so they can say "I told you so" and rub it in Hugo's face. I understand that Hugo brought this upon himself, but currently it is not a do or die situation.
I am one that believes Mexico can win tonight. |
