This is why a lot of people from up "north" hate it and this is why most people from the "south" love it.
So why not make Calexico more like Mexico? |

Just for the City of Calexico to make itself unique from the rest of the Imperial County and make it look more like an old Mexican town/city.
Calexico is generic. What do we have that sets us apart from the others, besides our white picket fence? |

Alright, I get it. A theme city. Get a motif going. Architecture resembling colonial Mexico. There is a theme park in Barcelona that represents the various regions of Spain, along with arts, crafts anf food from these places http://www.poble-espanyol.com |

Exactamundo.
If Calexico considers itself the "Gateway to Mexico" then make it that, not the "Pitstop to Mexico."
Where to start? Downtown and Imperial Ave. The city can put some redevelopment money together, as well as encourage shop owners, and give it this theme look. It doesn't necessarily have to be colonial, but a unique look that makes people heading towards San Felo go, "Wowzers. Am I in Mexico already?" |

Come on asking verbal WTF his point is, is like asking some one something they don't know the answer to.
I think that would be a good idea because every one in the valley already hates Calecia because you have to know spanish to go to jack in the box so f' them and make "mexico" an asthetic part of the town. |

Ah so true daniel son. Anyway, you start by looking at the ultimate pit stop....Barstow. Take many pictures and send them to the City Council and state we don't want to become the next Barstow.
Then you propose hippity-fresh ideas like elchrist's Remember the Alamo theme park/city.
I for one, do not endorse such proposal for a theme. I like the concept behind the mastermind, but I would not choose an archaic Mexican theme.
I know retro is cool, but it's time to let it go, and move forward. Instead, I would propose a Hyrbid city or a Hydrogen City. Oops wrong thread... |
